Asphalt Coven
Darby wasn't looking for magic. She was looking for a fresh start. One accidental spell in a dusty library archive changes everything – binding her to four women she's only just begun to call friends, and awakening power none of them knew they had. But magic has enemies. A violent order called the Torch Bearers has been hunting witches for generations. They've already burned other covens out of existence. Now they're coming for Darby's. Five women. No training. No time. And a bond forged in concrete, grit, and the kind of magic that refuses to die. This isn't a story about peaceful garden witches. This is a coven that won't burn.
Gideon Bean
Gideon Bean sees things. He has always hidden his ability to see the strange and terrifying—visions he's been told aren't real. But when a woman with flaming wings crawls out of a crematorium oven one night, his carefully built anonymity crumbles—and he must navigate a world of bennu shifters, shadowy organizations, and a fiery investigator who won't leave him alone.
The Mudlark
The Kingdom of Erishum keeps its citizens safe behind towering walls — or so Nyssa has always believed. A mudlark scraping by in the Shadow District, she's this close to trading the riverbanks for a baker's apprenticeship. But when she unearths a mysterious object from the mud, she's pulled into a world of political intrigue, menacing priests, and dangerous secrets. Now her survival instincts as a gutter rat are all that stand between her and forces she never knew existed. A gritty fantasy adventure about survival, sacrifice, and what happens when everything you've ever been taught turns out to be a lie.

Snarky Heroines
My heroines have attitude, opinions, and aren't afraid to use them. They solve problems with wit and determination, not damsel-in-distress moments.

Blood doesn't make a family—loyalty does. My books celebrate the bonds we choose and the people who become home.

Reviews from the supernatural reading community
"Fantastic New Series!!! I love Gwen Demarco’s series, especially the ones in Sophie Feegles’ world! About 75% of this book is introducing us to the new characters and their world. Women from different backgrounds finding themselves drawn to each other in friendship not knowing they have magical powers, and growing together once they do. Definitely take it all in, because one of the best things about Gwen’s writing are her story twists you never see coming. I don’t believe in spoilers but let me tell you this, I have read 11 of Gwen’s books, and I never saw that twist coming. Highly recommend this author, series and book!"
"What a satisfying conclusion to this dystopian trilogy! In fact, it is so skillfully completed that it absolutely exceeded my expectation. The plot is intricate and full of twists I did not see coming; the different storylines are fascinating and involve both joy and tragedy; the characters have vivid growth, showing courage, loyalty, and determination. The narration of the audiobook brings the characters to even greater definition. Definitely recommend...this will stay with me for a long time."
"Gideon Bean is a name to remember! I really enjoyed Ms. DeMarco’s Sophie Feegle series and this new book is in the same world so it has lots of promise. The titular Mr. Bean is a young man who lives with his mom in the Florida panhandle and has two boring jobs and a fear of ever being sent to the mental facility again. Just keeping his head down and his life boring. That is until the night at his job at the crematorium when the woman started banging on the furnace door. The rest is a whirlwind of new introductions to a world he didn’t know existed much less was a part of and a powerful part of at that. A whirlwind case of magic and evil leads to a tumultuous result where he learns he is much stronger than he ever knew. Great opening to what I hope is a short wait to a second book in the series."

Witchcraft Research
How much of the witchcraft in Asphalt Coven is real? Some of it. The rest I made up because it sounded cool. From The Craft to real witch ball folklore to herbs with actual magical correspondences, here's everything that inspired the magic – and the parts where I went full fiction goblin.
The Asphalt Coven is Here! Introducing My New Urban Witches Series

Welcome to Millhaven
If you've read Spirit Marked, then you know from my author's note that Millhaven is heavily inspired by a real central Florida town. But I wanted to go a little deeper into the connection, because the real place deserves its own spotlight, and because it's one of my favorite places in the world. That place is Sanford, Florida; and if you've ever driven through central Florida, you might have passed right by it without stopping. You should fix that.
